weekly recap / June 6-12

A bit late!  Here we go … had a few blips which made my mileage slightly less, but still a solid week … biggest lacking area was I really didn’t do much non running training.

Monday
train wreck of a day in running terms (thank goodness running terms aren’t the only terms of a day) – alarm didn’t go off Monday morning (MAD FACE) –
so did 30 min cardio extreme 

3.1 miles, 26:34, 8:43 pace – ran after dinner – my neighbor brought down some of his INCREDIBLE chocolate chip cookies and let’s just say 2 of them was a BADBADBADBAD idea – thought I was going to YAK. Walked 1/2 mile home. SO much for 6 miles :(

Tuesday
early morning – 6 miles, 47:57, 7:59 pace
evening – 4 miles, 32:46, 8:11 pace – felt surprisingly good, ran mostly on soft surfaces :)

Wednesday
my birthday run!!!
5.27 miles, 42:09, 8:00 pace – tired legs! 

Thursday
planned on an afternoon run, but I was EXHAUSTED.  Opted to skip the run.

Friday
8.08 miles, 1:04:32, 8:00 pace – resting yesterday proved to be a wise choice – felt SOOO much better today!

Saturday
18 miles, 2:24:12, 8:01 pace
such a solid long run! Right hamstring definitely sore though

Week 9 recap

(a bit late!)

Last week I dialed back intentionally to give my body a bit of a break AND it was perfect timing because we had a weekend getaway to the coast with another family! Oh, and my kids were off school all week which makes getting to the gym hard.

did a 30 min yoga DVD (with company …

7.45 miles, 1:01:06, 8:13 pace
lower fix extreme (killer LEG workout)

Wednesday
5.1 miles, 42:52, 8:25 pace

Thursday
*I was feeling so tired from waking up at 5am 3 mornings in a row AND given that I was driving out of town later that morning, decided to sleep in which means no run

Friday
rest … enjoyed vacation :)

Saturday
14 miles, 1:52:02, 7:58 pace
my tummy was screaming mad at me for much of this run and THANK GOODNESS for a port-a-pot  … all the more confirmation that wheat and dairy are not working for me right now – more on that later

Week 10 recap

I felt a bit more tired last week, but overall still really good.  I am going to back off a bit this week, and then ramp back up again the next week.

Tuesday
9 miles, 1:09:22, 7:41 pace
ran with my new running buddy, yay :)  it’s SO GOOD to get this longer than normal week day run in and even better at such a great pace :)

Wednesday
5.02 miles, 42:02, 8:23 pace
Pilates DVD*

Thursday
9 miles on the ‘mill – 1 mile w/u, 8 miles @ CMP = 59:36, 7:27 pace

Friday
5.21 miles, 42:56, 8:15 pace
arms DVD*

Saturday
16.05 miles, 2:06:47, 7:54 pace
the 1st 8 miles or so were 7:30s, then slowed to closer to 8s, except for mile up the Powerline Trail (RIDICULOUS hill) was 9:10. VERY solid long run!

Boston Marathon training week 13

(just a reminder, I count DOWN in my week #s rather than up – so week 13 means 13 weeks to go!)

13 weeks?!  Yikes!!! I feel a bit behind, but I am where I am and I am finally getting in my groove of consistency to up my training.

great long run and perfect prep for Boston – early down hill, miles of flat, and BIG hills at the end
